Pastor Terry B. Starks

"Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding" and finally, "seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all things will be added unto you."

If someone were to ask Pastor Terry, how did you get here? These two scriptures come to mind for his appointment as the local Pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center as well as his success in life. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth but had to work and rely on his "natural wits" or instinct to survive before receiving Christ. Raised in the inner city of Memphis, TN in an environment that promoted little that was Godly, Pastor says that he always knew that he would have a better life than what he witnessed everyday.

But Thank God for Jesus. Today is happening only because of God and his mercy. Heading down the wrong path, Pastor Terry had an experience with God in October of 1993 and his life has never been the same. By living God’s word, tithing and continuing to seek God daily, the word has taken him to new heights. While working as a financial planner for an NBA athlete, Pastor Terry moved to Phoenix, AZ where he graduated from Ministry Training Institute and received a BS Degree in Biblical Studies from Friends University. During this time in the desert, Pastor grew in the Lord and learned ministry.

Pastor Terry with his wife of Sixteen years, Lynda and their two beautiful children, Madelyn (10) & Terry, Jr. (7), moved to New York in 2004 to establish their ministry. Pastor Terry has held many jobs in which he was successful at but now he is in his purpose as a Pastor and Teacher of the Gospel.

He has been raised up for such a time as this and is looking forward to serving God’s people here at Crenshaw Christian Center East

History of CCC East

Crenshaw Christian Center East (CCC East) was established in New York City in July, 2001 by Dr. Frederick K. C. Price. Services were held every Thursday night from July, 2001 to February, 2003 with Dr. Price traveling to New York each week. Beginning in March 2003, CCC East began regular Sunday morning services.

Membership
At the time regular Sunday Services began in March 2003, there were some 400 members of CCC East. Currently, in February 2004, there are some 600 members of the church.

Auxiliaries
Since CCC East has been operating from rented church facilities and began regular Sunday services only eleven months ago, auxiliary functions are just being established. However, from the inception of the church, there has been an active Street Ministry Outreach program covering New York City.

As part of on-going Church facilities, CCC East provides nursery services each Sunday service for ages up to 6 years old, and operates a bookstore for parishioners and visitors on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings. An expanded Nursery and Sunday School program is planned for 2004.

Demographics
The church population is strongly family based with a large number of single members. The number of young people attending is expected to increase dramatically with the introduction of the Sunday School program in 2004. Members come from all five boroughs of New York ( Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island) which make up the City of New York. In addition, a significant number come from Long Island, Westchester County and upstate New York, as well as from the surrounding States of New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

On February 15, 2004, Dr. Price announced to an excited congregation that Crenshaw Christian Center was purchasing the historic landmark church at 96 th Street and Central Park West where services have been held for the past five years. The hundred year old church has a seating capacity of 2,400 and is one of the most beautiful and well-known sanctuaries in the City of New York. The building consists of four stories and has ample room for CCC East offices, Sunday School, Nursery and a host of other church functions.
