Corporate Intercessory Prayer

Service Agenda

In 2008, Pastor Starks of Crenshaw Christian Center East was led to establish Tuesday evening services at CCC East which are dedicated solely to Corporate Intercessory Prayer. He has assigned a specific prayer focus for each month of the year, and this month, the focus is "Confession for the Membership of Crenshaw Christian Center East." Each month when the focus changes the Corporate Prayer effort will be dedicated to and concentrate solely on the focus of the month.

Each Tuesday evening at CCC East at 7:00 PM, the congregation will pray a confession which is based upon the focus of the month. After the confession is made, we intercede in our heavenly language for the remainder of the hour.

How You Can Participate On a Daily Basis

We welcome everyone to join us in prayer for the designated focus each month whether at CCC East or at your own location. For all who would like to participate in this important initiative of Corporate Prayer but who are unable to attend the Tuesday evening service, you are encouraged to use the confession and participate by confessing it in your heavenly language at your location at the designated day and time. In addition, we encourage everyone to pray the confession daily on Wednesday through Monday, either at your regular prayer time or at a time when you can commit to it regularly. Therefore, all who are able to participate are encouraged to make the corporate prayer of the month a part of your daily prayer life all year long.

A copy of the confession for May 2010, is available Here.

If You Are Unable to Participate for Any Reason

If you are unable to participate any time for any reason we encourage your participation by simply lifting up those individuals who are able to participate.

We look forward to having you join us and lending your agreement to this important effort.

Pastor Terry B. Starks

Pastor Terry B. Starks was appointed Pastor of the New York location of The Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC East) on April 1, 2007, by Apostle Frederick K. C. Price. If you were to ask Pastor Starks how he rose to become the Pastor of CCC East, you would find that he attributes both his success in life and his appointment to CCC East by following the Word and two Biblical scriptures in particular: Matthew 6:33 and Numbers 23:19.

Matthew 6:33
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (NKJV)

Numbers 23:19
"God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"
(NKJV)

Raised in the inner city of Memphis, Tennessee, in an environment that promoted little that was Godly, Pastor Starks always knew that he would have a better life than that which he witnessed every day. On February 15, 1992, he married the charismatic and accomplished Lynda, but his business life continued to head down the wrong path. However, God was merciful. Pastor Starks had an experience with God in October of 1993, and from that day forward his life has never been the same. By continuing to live God's Word, by tithing, and by seeking God daily, the Word has taken him to new heights.

In 1999, a childhood friend who was an NBA athlete asked Pastor Starks to become his Business Manager; this meant a move to Phoenix, Arizona. That move was a blessing because both he and his wife were able to attend the Ministry Training Institute at Azusa World Ministry. He continued his studies and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Friends University in 2005, as did his wife.

When his friend was traded to a New York team, Pastor Starks was in a hotel reading and meditating on Exodus 3. It was at that point that God revealed to him that his ministry was in New York City, and Pastor Starks was quick to answer the call. Pastor Starks, Lynda, and their two beautiful children, Madelyn and Terry, Jr., moved to New York in 2004, and established his ministry, "A Wise Man Christian Center." Holding services on Saturday nights allowed him to attend Sunday services at CCC East under the leadership of his mentor, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price.

In 2006, the Holy Spirit started to reveal to him what his next assignment was; and now he is in his purpose as a Pastor and Teacher of the Gospel at CCC East. He has been raised up for such a time as this, and his testimony is inspiring. He relishes serving God's people at CCC East and continues to live the Word in his daily life.

First Lady Lynda S. Starks

First Lady Lynda Starks is truly the helpmate of Pastor Starks. She is the devoted mother of Madelyn, 12, and Terry, Jr., 8, and is committed to following the Word and raising the children in a God-centered home.

After fifteen years of teaching Biology (five years in the public school sector and ten years at the college level), she left teaching to raise the children and assist Pastor Starks in his Business Manager role and subsequent ministry.

She possesses an attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, and for the last several years has helped Pastor Starks take CCC East to a new level. She is a complement to the Pastor in her efforts to deal with the structural needs and aesthetics of the building; additionally, she supports the Helps Ministry and fellowship activities. Constantly encouraging the membership to walk in love, she sets the example through her attitude and commitment to God. Their efforts have not only beautified the property, but have also reinforced parishioner dedication.

History of CCC East

The Crenshaw Christian Center ministry began over thirty years ago. Inspired by God to establish a non-denominational, non-sectarian, multi-racial church in the Los Angeles area, Dr. Frederick K.C. Price founded The Crenshaw Christian Center on November 25, 1973, in the city of Inglewood, California. The church has had a storied success since its inception. Led by a man of impeccable integrity and commitment to the Word of God, it grew from a beginning of 300 members to a membership of more than 18,000. In 1981, the church purchased the then vacant 32-acre Pepperdine University Campus in the heart of Los Angeles. In 1986, construction began on the world-renowned 10,000-seat sanctuary, the FaithDome. Ever-Increasing Faith Television was another groundbreaking venture, as Dr. Price was led by the Lord to televise his teaching ministry in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington, D.C. (now the program reaches more than 183 markets world-wide). For more than twenty-five years, New York has remained the number two market for the broadcast, second only to Los Angeles. Throughout this period, several television crusades were held in the New York area. It was due to this association with the audience of New York and the tri-state area that a desire to establish a church in Manhattan arose.

In May of 2001, Dr. Price conducted the first church service of The Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC East), with great expectation that the same success would be seen here as had been evidenced in the West. Initially, services were held on Thursday nights, from July 2001 to February 2003, with Dr. Price traveling to New York each week. In 2003, he appointed one of his longtime assistants, Allen J. Landry, as Pastor of the East coast church, and CCC East began regular Sunday morning services.

On August 7, 2005, Dr. Price appointed David S. Sparks as Pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center East to build upon the foundation laid by Pastor Landry, who returned to Crenshaw Christian Center West. After Pastor Sparks resigned on March 23, 2006, Dr. Price and Pastor Frederick K. Price, Jr., served as CCC East Pastors during the next year.

On April 1, 2007, Dr. Price appointed Pastor Terry B. Starks as Pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center East, and ordained Pastor Starks at the Fellowship of International Christian Word of Faith Ministries (FICWFM) on July 24, 2007. On July 25, 2008, Dr. Price was affirmed as Apostle Frederick K. C. Price.

On March 15, 2009, Frederick K. Price, Jr., was installed as Pastor of The Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles.

Membership
Membership has continued to grow, with over 1400 members at present. The church population is comprised primarily of families, but has a large number of single members. The number of young people attending has also grown exponentially, as the church youth fellowship - New Flo - has taken a visible lead in ministering to, and fellowshipping with, teens.

Members come from all five boroughs of New York (Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island). In addition, a significant number come from Long Island, Westchester County, and upstate New York, as well as from the surrounding states of New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

The Facility
On February 15, 2004, Apostle Price announced to an excited congregation that the Crenshaw Christian Center was purchasing the designated historic landmark church at 96th and Central Park West, where services had been held since 2001; on June 4, 2004, Crenshaw Christian Center purchased the building. Listed on the National Historic Register, no exterior changes can be made without approval from New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Property Overview
Designed by famed architects Carrère & Hastings, construction of the Beaux-Arts structure began in 1901 and ended in 1903. The interior exemplifies the most elegant features of the Beaux-Arts period. Intricate marble floors, ornate vaulted ceilings, and gilded wood combine in a breathtaking skylit sanctuary with seating for 1900 people on two levels. The building has office and classroom space, fireplaces, three manual elevators, a mahogany paneled boardroom and director's office, as well as a duplex apartment that includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Hutchings-Votey Concert Organ
The Hutchings-Votey concert organ is located on a raised, hand carved speaker's platform. The long, fluted golden pipes set amid the dark walnut detail are as beautiful in form as they are in function, producing a full and rich sound that is unique to an instrument of its quality, and that is complimented by the remarkable acoustics of the structure itself.

Renowned LaFarge Stained Glass Windows
The brilliantly modeled stained glass windows housed in bronze feature the work of artist John LaFarge. One large, centrally-featured detailed window, titled "Touch Me Not," is displayed boldly on the east facade along Central Park West. There are six additional delicately colored, two-storey stained glass windows on the north and south facades, with themes taken from Michelangelo, showcasing the beauty of the designs. All add to the impressive main sanctuary.
